Land Capability Assessment reports should follow the Victorian Land Capability Assessment Framework ( MAV et. al., January 2014) which contains guidance on land and soil assessment, water- and nutrient- balance calculations and designing and sizing land application areas.
The Victorian Land Capability Assessment Framework also contains a fictional Model Land Capability Assessment Report (Appendix 3) to provide guidance to relevant stakeholders.
The Victorian Land Capability Assessment Framework can be downloaded from this link:

Template LCAs can also be found in Councils’ websites.
Here are some fundamental information about how an LCA report should be written:
- State Environment Protection Policy requires that all sites be assessed on a risk-weighted basis.
- Each and every LCA must follow the 12 stages given in the Code of Practise (3.6.1. ‘LCA procedure’).
- Additional aspects must be considered according to the risk to public health.
- Hence as the risk increases the intensity of the LCA increases.
- Some additional aspects include a feature survey to define surface flow and buffers.
